About Me

Hi, I’m Melleigha.  I am a virtual assistant with more than five years experience doing a little of  everything, from basic admin to WordPress websites.

A little about my background.

Prior to becoming a virtual assistant, I worked in the secretarial, retail, and customer service fields.  I always felt that there had to be something more than what I was doing, so I started taking courses and teaching myself more skills, including designing WordPress websites and basic coding.

Eventually, I felt my skills were sufficient enough to start working online part time.  I started with Elance (now Upwork).  Once I was used to working with clients online regularly, I started taking on clients outside of freelancing platforms.

My first foray into running a virtual assistant business was called The Necessary Secretary, where I did mostly basic admin tasks.  I realized after a while that the name just didn’t really suit who I am as a person, so I started my second business, Moonglow Co (I am obsessed with the moon). While this business suited me more, I eventually came to realize that working under my name was the way to go for me.  After all, my clients work with me, not just some company.

All the while that I was growing my brands, I was also growing my skills.  I have taken a multitude of courses and worked on my own time to develop the skills that I feel will help my clients the most.

A little about my personal life.

Our wedding reception May, 2009

I am happily married to the man that I first dated at the age of 10.  Geoff and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage on May 22, 2019.  We don’t have children (I am unable to have any), but we do have a dog name Zoey and 3 cats named Mu, Fuzz, and Azzie.

Part of the reason that I chose to start my own business and work from home is that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  If you don’t know what fibromyalgia is, it is basically a nerve disorder that means that I am in constant pain.  Some days are better than others, and I tend to throw myself into my work on bad days to distract myself.

When I am not working or spending time with my husband, I enjoy reading, binge watching YouTube (I love Harry Potter fan theories and craft videos) and competitive reality television, and playing with Zoey and the cats.
